Nitrox

he RAID Nitrox Diver course, also known as Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN), is a course that teaches you to dive with a breathing gas that contains a higher percentage of oxygen and a lower percentage of nitrogen than regular air.

This gas mixture allows divers to stay underwater for a longer time compared to breathing regular air, as it reduces the amount of nitrogen absorbed by the body during the dive. Nitrox also has other benefits, such as reducing fatigue, enhancing safety, and increasing bottom time.

It’s no surprise that Nitrox has become the most popular specialty course in the diving industry. Many dive centers worldwide offer Nitrox as their primary breathing gas, and it has become a go-to option for divers of all levels. By taking a Nitrox course, you will learn the advantages and disadvantages of using Nitrox as a breathing gas for sport diving. You will also learn how to analyze and use Nitrox safely, calculate maximum operating depths, and plan your dives accordingly.

One of the main advantages of Nitrox is that it can help manage the risk of decompression sickness, a condition caused by ascending too quickly from a dive and the formation of gas bubbles in the body. Nitrox reduces the amount of nitrogen absorbed by the body, which can decrease the likelihood of decompression sickness. However, it’s essential to understand that Nitrox does not eliminate the risk entirely, and divers should still follow the recommended dive tables and safety guidelines.
