Trimix Diver

The TDI Trimix Diver course is designed for experienced divers who want to explore the deeper depths of the ocean using a mix of oxygen, nitrogen, and helium. This course builds on the knowledge gained in previous technical diving courses and allows divers to safely dive to depths beyond recreational limits. By incorporating helium into the breathing mix, Trimix reduces narcosis and helps manage oxygen toxicity, making deep dives more manageable and safer.

What You’ll Learn

This course covers:

• The benefits of helium in deep diving, including reduced narcosis and less risk of oxygen toxicity

• Gas selection and the use of Trimix blends (oxygen, nitrogen, and helium) for deep dives

• Decompression theory, including gas loading, off-gassing, and optimal ascent strategies

• Planning and executing dives to depths of up to 60 meters (200 feet)

• Gas switching procedures and handling multiple gas mixtures during the dive

• Dive planning using decompression tables, dive computers, and gas consumption calculations

• Managing narcosis and understanding the physiological effects of breathing gases at depth

• Emergency procedures, including gas loss scenarios and dealing with the risks of oxygen toxicity

Prerequisites:

• Minimum age 18

• TDI Advanced Nitrox or equivalent

• A minimum of 100 logged dives

Dives Included:

• A minimum of four training dives focusing on Trimix gas use, deep dive procedures, and gas switching

Certification Limitations:

• Limited to planned decompression diving with Trimix to 60 meters
